Annam Cara was once a great chieftain of the Savitr subspecies, who hail from the earth-like world of Dagda. These people are split into separate tribes and always have been except for the brief period of time that Annam Cara, who was chieftain of the Ceinlys tribe, was in power as he held great influence over all of the other tribes. However, with the passing of time the memory of Annam Cara has produced many rumours and mythical beliefs surrounding the man that was.

Race
- Main article: Savitr
The world of Dagda is populated by six sentient subspecies, the Raijin, Ryujin, Fujin, Svarog, Mani and Savitr. The final subspecies are the most under-developed of the six, roaming across the southern continent in small individual tribes that often know starvation and illness. The Savitr are similar in aesthetics to the other subspecies of Dagda, elongated ears, hairless and a tail but their skin is white and even somewhat translucent in places. They are powerless, though it is speculated by Fujin scientists that the Savitr once held the power of light.
Homeworld
- Main article: Dagda
The world of Dagda is a small Terran planet, consisting of oceans, great continents and varied forms of flora and fauna. It holds several sentient subspecies that all share a common ancestor, they are the Raijin, Fujin, Ryujin, Savitr, Mani and Svarog, each separated by racial defined boundaries and countries. The three most prominent subspecies reside on the northern bound continent and minor islands, whilst the others live on the gold rich southern continent, which has a much more inhospitable climate and terrain.
Characteristics
Personality
Beyond the myth of Annam Cara was a real man. He was incredibly charismatic, charming and intelligent. He could be cunning too, using guile and wit to get ahead of the other chieftains in stature. He would grant favours, promises and gifts to other tribes to gain their trust. He was ambitious and daring. Yet he was not physically brave, preferring to lead than fight, allowing others to perform the physical duties of the tribe. This earned him the later title as 'effeminate'.
Powers
- Main article: Savitr
The Savitr have no powers, unlike many other Dagdan subspecies. Fujin scientists believe that the Savitr once had power over light due to biological characteristics. They are, however, very agile and have keen, natural reflexes that could out-strip any standard human.
Story Line
Place of Birth
Southern State
- Main article: Southern State
The southern subspecies are not recognised by the northern sentients as having countries. In fact the Savitr are free-roaming and move according to the position of 'the herd', which are migratory buffalo. Only the Mani are considered to be in possession of territory, that being the Mani Territory. The Svarog ought to also be considered land-holders as they are also stationary, taking up residence on the fertile volcano, however their borders are undefined and taken for granted by the Hotei species.
Early Life
Annam Cara was born on the Plains of Eostre, just like any other Savitr tribesman. His early life was unremarkable and simplistic, despite his natural aptitude for learning and impressing others around him. He was raised like any other, taught how to scout, how to hunt and how to make things from the animals killed, such as clothing, bedding, tents, weapons. The Savitr people are nomadic, trailing after a large cow-like beast called 'the herd'. It is through the variable usage of this animal that Annam Cara began to show potential, able to quickly pick up methods of use and even improving on them.
Chieftain
When he was thirteen, the equivalent of twenty by human standards, he married a woman from a rival tribe. This marriage brought a loss of friction between the tribes and it was deemed that Annam Cara was an intelligent man for his choice of bride. His tribe was known as the Ceinlys, a tribe that no longer exists today. However this was only the beginning. Cara began to experiment with naturally occurring chemicals, as well as strive to understand the natural world around them. He was the first to discover gunpowder, which he originally used to scare the herd so that they might flee in a specific direction, straight towards waiting huntsmen. He was also the first to propose the lost powers of the Savitr, which only the Fujin scientists have done since. Such endeavours gained him the title of 'wise man' early in his life. No other Savitr was, or has been since, so curious of the world or so scientifically minded.
When he was chieftain he continued with his experiments, forming a trade similar to alchemy. Through these experiments he discovered that he could use gunpowder to fire projectiles, creating the first hand cannon; which had to be lit manually. He also discovered things like incense and the use of salt as a preservative. Such advancements were eagerly sought after by the other tribes and soon he held them in his sway. He was naturally charismatic and charming, able to lure the other chieftains into his allure. He managed to gain the support of all the tribes, holding them under his influence. Only then did he begin to consider merging the tribes into one. He began by merging two other tribes into his own Ceinlys tribe, creating the largest ever group of Savitr. The Ceinlys then held sway over all other tribes. However with such increase in power comes an increase in greed and lust for that power.
Cara was murdered by an unknown party, shot with one of his own hand cannons. The subsequent chieftain wasn't as charismatic, nor as intelligent, as Cara and the unity that had come about quickly dissolved into chaos. The huge Ceinlys tribe was soon split up by feuding men who felt they ought to overthrow the current chieftain and take power themselves. Ultimately the Ceinlys ceased to exist and, instead, five smaller tribes emerged. Only one of those tribes survived beyond two years.
The Legend of Annam Cara
Rumours were spread even during his own lifetime. Rivals and the power-hungry spread tales of magick and witchcraft, supposing that Cara had discovered a chemical formula that could trick others and put them under his spell. However, after the break-up of the Ceinlys and the end result of lost knowledge, the story of Cara became legend and various version started to spread. Some said that he had unlocked the ancient powers of the Savitr, whilst others claimed he had been a Mani in disguise.
The most prevailing stories were those that criticised his ability to charm the other chieftains. These most often revolved around sex, some suggesting that he was a homosexual that seduced the other male chieftains with chemicals. The more favourite myth was that Cara was, in fact, a woman in disguise and that she used her female charms to lure and attract the other chieftains, who kept her secret in return for sexual favours. These tall tales were specifically designed to tell the dangers of tribal unity within the Savitr. The tribes have never again managed such unity.
There are, however, positive tales of Cara in many tribes, confusing many as the stories of him may be positive in one tale but negative in the next. Some are designed as children's tales, proclaiming the invention of gunpowder and the hand canon was to kill an evil dragon-like creature, whilst another suggests that Cara had used the long-forgotten light powers of the Savitr to drive off the evil Mani, who had also fallen into myth.

Player Notes
Annam Cara came about during the writing of the Savitr article as a means of enriching the Savitr's history. I wanted to give more interest into the reasons behind the Savitr tribes remaining as separate tribes rather than uniting as one people like all of the other subspecies of Dagda. I also felt it would be an interesting character. Annam Cara, therefore, was immense fun to write, especially with the legendary tales of him.
