Capability
Each ring has its own special controllable element. They cannot produce the element, only manipulate the existing element. Each ring has a jewel that represents the element it can effect.
The red jewel is the semi-precious gemstone called carnelian. This ring allows the wielder to manipulate fire, represented by the red colour of the stone. The malachite gemstone ring allows for the manipulation of life; the most deadly effect of all the rings. This power can cease or give life (provided, in this case, that the deceased is only 'recently dead'). However, since the rings were created for pure purpose, this ring cannot be constantly used over-and-over. Green is the colour of malachite and represents life. The water-based ring enables the manipulation of water and has a lapis lazuli stone, which has an intense blue colour, to represent its effect. Amethyst is the purple stone set within the ring that allows the manipulation of gravity, which is probably the most tactical effect of the five rings. The final yellow ring is made of topaz and is capable of manipulating wind current.
Alone each ring can be used to great effect, but when all five are used a wielder can possess tremendous power.
History
The Five Ring Set was commissioned by Skrai during his time in The Napping Cat's Dream. He didn't specify, wishing to see the craftsman's ingenuity. Unfortunately the lack of specifications meant that they were only fit for the good and pure of heart. As a result Skrai had to commission the construction of the Left-hand Gauntlet to allow use of these pure objects.
The gauntlet fused with Skrai's arm, meaning he can only remove it by severing his arm. This means that the rings have always been with him since their creation and have seen a great deal of use both in and out of warfare.
In particular they were used against Ellechim Epia when Skrai had to impress the level of power at his disposal. This act gave Ellechim a begrudging respect for Skrai and acted as a stepping-stone to her joining him during the Second Invasion when Skrai came to conquer the Valle Dei Mondi. At the Schola Draíochta the rings were also used during Skrai's Summonings & Necromancy classes to discipline students, often by throwing them out of the window with the gravity ring, before raising them back up again.

Skrai

Skrai is an Ethereal being originating from The Napping Cat's Dream, from where he expanded into the Multiverse and became a conqueror of countries, worlds and even galaxies. He was once the teacher for Summonings & Necromancy, however it was a ploy so that he could gain intelligence on the Schola Draíochta and, eventually, he invaded sparking a major war. He has many other characters in his employ, such as Dragão Geral de Caos, Emperor and Domie Neitrycks; all of which serve with unshakable loyalty, even in his absence. He believes in order through chaos and desires complete control, yet offers great rewards for this subservience.

Player Notes
The rings were made by another player on the NCD. I really enjoy merging character storylines and making others' characters a significant part of my own and one way of doing that is with given objects. The rings really make Skrai a little too powerful and will probably never be returned to him.
