Race
- Main article: Raijin
The Raijin are a humanoid race from the planet Dagda, which they share with two other main subspecies, Ryujin and Fujin. The most distinctive features of a Raijin are the head tendrils and the large zigzag tail. The Raijin age faster than most races, a thirteen-year-old may appear more like a twenty-year-old human. They're known for their incredible speed, reflexes and ability to create electricity. A race of Raijin are also blessed with powers of the mind, such as telekinesis and teleportation.
Homeworld
- Main article: Dagda
The world of Dagda is a small Terran planet, consisting of oceans, great continents and varied forms of flora and fauna. It holds several sentient subspecies that all share a common ancestor, they are the Raijin, Fujin, Ryujin, Savitr, Mani and Svarog, each separated by racial defined boundaries and countries. The three most prominent subspecies reside on the northern bound continent and minor islands, whilst the others live on the gold rich southern continent, which has a much more inhospitable climate and terrain.
Characteristics
Personality
Brought up in a world wealth and power, Leucetios had little fear or concern for life. His role as figurehead meant little to him as he had no real power over the laws or the people. He saw himself simply as a cultural symbol for foreign lands. He cared little about anything and lived day-by-day a life of pleasure and relaxation.
However after he met Erith, the young hermit woman that sought to overcome her own flaws and weaknesses, the King began to take more of an interest in the things he could do. Money was regularly placed into funding for public works, museums, art galleries and temples. However, after the visit from Erith, Leucetios took a personal interest in the projects being commissioned, engaging in art and music and history as interests. He also sought to help the more needy areas of Parjanya, which were often on the outskirts of the country, meeting both with Erith and others from these poor villages. He decided his role was to return the land tax to his people in a usable form.
Powers
- Main article: Ryujin
Ryujin have powers over water. They can both produce and manipulate already existing water. Although the level of control over this power varies Ryujin to Ryujin, all of them are capable of utilising this power to some extent; unlike all other subspecies of Dagda who may have people unable to use their natural powers at all. So fine is the craft of the Ryujin, they can mould water into clothing. Although it is transparent, the flow and current of the water works for modesty. They don't need to maintain concentration upon the sole task of water manipulation to perform it, allowing them to keep their water clothes and focus their minds on other tasks. Even when sleeping, the mind continues to work on standard water manipulation tasks, including clothing. Unlike the Fujin and Raijin, Ryujin have no mental powers at all.
Story Line
Place of Birth
Daikoku
- Main article: Dagda
The Raijin do not have cities in the same sense as ours, or the Fujins. At most they have towns, however their residential buildings are towering skyscrapers much larger than anything in reality, housing enough for a small town. However Daikoku has six of these enormous buildings, along with many temples and one special palace called the Imperial Seat, where the monarchy lives and works. This is the largest number of Raijin in any one place and is an architectural marvel.
Early Life
Childhood
As a young child, Leucetios was brought up in a world with maids at his whim and never experienced hunger, poverty or injury. He was given an academic education, learning mathematics, history, language, etc. This was given at the expense of creativity and freedom of expression. As he grew older and older, Leucetios began to question the role of the king but was met with deliberate avoidance of the query.
Teenage Years
Coming to believe that his role was little more than a cultural symbol, Leucetios began to spend his life in the pursuit of relaxation and pleasure. He had little else to do with himself. He sought drink, games, sports and women. Even his studies ceased as he believed that there was no need for them, since he wouldn't use his knowledge for anything.
It was during this time that his father died and Leucetios became King of Parjanya. He had hardly known his parents, raised by maids and a nanny for all of his life. He didn't even shed a tear for the loss. Leucetios became an unhappy king. Although he sought fun and enjoyment, inside he was tired, lonely and angry. He would have traded places with the poorest of Raijin.
Adulthood
Erith
It wasn't until tales of a young hermit woman arose that thing began to change for King Leucetios. He became fascinated by the stories he was told. A woman that gave freely to any and all, regardless of station or rank, and travelled the land hoping to nothing more than help others in need. She fought with criminals to save their victims and helped farmers with their harvests and builders to construct homes in poor villages. He sent an open summons for her. It took some time for get to receive the message.
When she arrived at the Imperial Seat, the palace within which Leucetios spent almost everyday of his life, she told him the tale of her life. She had once been a rebellious, aggressive troublemaker and only after finally recognising the love of her parents did she dedicate herself to this hermit lifestyle.
Leucetios was a changed man and he actively sought to engage with his people. The funding that was allotted to public works became his first target. The money was spent on the likes of museums, art galleries and temples. He took a leading role in this and took an interest in the funded subjects, enjoying art, literature and music. He met several times with Erith, seeking her knowledge of the troubled lands on the outskirts of his kingdom. He formed many projects to aid these towns and villages by commissioning buildings and farms for them.
The Hermit King
Following in Erith's footsteps, Leucetios resolved to travel across the land himself as a hermit. Without all of his royal markers he was disguised as any other Raijin. He journeyed far and wide, helping people, staying with strangers and hunting or farming for his food. Upon his return to the Imperial Seat, Leucetios praised Erith publicly, making her a national hero (for which she took no credit) and pledged to continue returning the tax money into areas of the land that needed the aid.
