Odin is the third planet in the Yggdrasil-387420489-Kappa solar system. It is named after the chief Norse god, and is the planet which the Valle Dei Mondi, otherwise known as the Valley, is situated on. It is also the planet where the Schola Draíochta can be found. Much of the planet's surface is coated by a thick mist that can lead to many dangerous results if entered; however there are still several habitable pockets of clean air zones, such as the Valley itself, where life can flourish with high magick concentrations.

Valle Dei Mondi
Main article: Valle Dei Mondi

The Valle Dei Mondi, which is often known simply as 'The Valley', is just one of the many patches of clear air on the planet Odin, made unusual by the sheer prevalence of portals to other realms. The Schola Draíochta and the town of Breja are situated in the Valley, as are the Portal Grounds. The Valley earns it name due to being surrounded by mountains and bordered by the mysterious mist that contains the land into the one zone. The land has seen much through the ages, including the arrival of the Brejan dwarves, the reign of Mistress Procellifer as well as the First and Second Invasions.

Flora & Fauna

Odin can, and does, support an enormous variety of sentient life, concentrated in the Valle dei Mondi. It has rich flora as well, in the isolated valleys that have escaped the mist. The Valle Dei Mondi also has many foreign species of plants and animals that have managed to travel through the portals and adapt to the new environment. Mostly this new collection of life can be seen in the forests around the Portal Grounds.

The Valle Della Cenere is also known for an abundance of life, though mostly on a smaller scale than that living in the Valle Dei Mondi. In this other valley, life mostly consists of many, many species of insects and small reptiles. Birds have arrived in the valley, however, to feed on these smaller creatures.

A special kind of plant is also known to grow within the misted areas of the planet, the only life known to do so.

Major Natural Landmarks

The Volcano

Despite being classified as a valley, Valle Della Cenere is, in fact, a dormant volcano. If the mist didn't shroud the landscape, this gigantic volcano would be visible for hundreds of miles in any direction. The planet, on average, has very few volcanoes, making the Valle Della Cenere even more special than previously believed. It is the volcanic conditions that make the valley so fertile and ripe for life. It is also the presence of basalt that first attracted Lysander in his quest to construct the Schola Borealis.

Moons

Sleipnir

Odin has a single moon, which follows an orbit similar to Earth's moon- an approximately twenty-eight day cycle. This moon is known as Sleipnir. It also appears grey and chalk-like from the planet's surface, scarred by many craters from eons in the history of the galaxy.

Player Notes

Odin is the 'larger scheme' of the setting for the Schola forums, allowing for greater potential of a 'great unknown', or a 'dangerous beyond'. The mist acts, in many respects, as the 'forest' would act in any old setting when the forested areas were seen as dangerous. However the various Valleys on the planet allow for further exploration and expansion of the setting, such as the Valle Della Cenere.
