The orb that Skrai has is just one of twenty-four, however most are missing. Only Skrai's remains the mostly actively known. It is, in fact, a creation that allows an Ethereal to house themselves when they loose a corporeal body. Once instead the orb, where there is a pocket dimension, they will need to use their subliminal messaging to get another person to touch the orb and thus gain a new host body. The orb keeps the Ethereals from fading into the ether.

Capability
The orb's are designed the Ethereals should they loose their corporeal body. They can only travel a short distance when in their natural state before fading out into the ether, so they tend to keep these orbs at close range. Within each orb is a unique pocket dimension, specially designed with each Ethereal in mind. They pocket dimensions can be accessed by those that know how, however there would be little to gain as nothing can be taken out of this pocket world and nothing sinister can happen in there.
Once an Ethereal is within his orb, he must use his powers to attract a new host body. Only when physical contain is made to the orb can the Ethereal push his way out of the orb and into the new host.
History
In the very beginnings of Ethereal history, set in the bizarre world of The Napping Cat's Dream, Fenris, the Ethereal capable of creating pocket worlds, designed a gift for each of his brothers. He designed them knowing that depth and imagination was what allowed his species to take possession of host bodies. Thus the orbs were created and handed out with each individual Ethereal in mind. He hoped that this would make him, at least, a neutral target in exchange for the favour and although he was attacked in battle many times, the distrust towards him was minimal all round.
When inhabited, the orbs are normally placed somewhere dark and safe from prying eyes by other Ethereals. This is to keep them trapped in their orbs as long as possible, rendering it difficult for the trapped Ethereal to attract a new host. However it is also to keep them safe. Ethereal might fight but they also value one another and have been despaired twice at the losses of two brothers.
Skrai's was kept in a woodland grotto for hundreds of years before he finally gained a new host. Although Skrai, like all other Ethereals, carried his orb with him at all times, he later gave the orb to Emperor, one of his created minions, to carry for him, freeing himself from its binds. However he still keeps it, and Emperor, close.

Skrai

Skrai is an Ethereal being originating from The Napping Cat's Dream, from where he expanded into the Multiverse and became a conqueror of countries, worlds and even galaxies. He was once the teacher for Summonings & Necromancy, however it was a ploy so that he could gain intelligence on the Schola Draíochta and, eventually, he invaded sparking a major war. He has many other characters in his employ, such as Dragão Geral de Caos, Emperor and Domie Neitrycks; all of which serve with unshakable loyalty, even in his absence. He believes in order through chaos and desires complete control, yet offers great rewards for this subservience.

Player Notes
Of all Skrai's qualities and items, the orb has been the most constant and unchanged of aspects to his character since his creation in 2002. The only change has been Emperor holding it rather than Skrai himself.
