The VSES Vendetta is a spacecraft formerly belonging to the Vestial Space Egalitary, VSE. It's captain was Kelly Anderlight and was assigned to watch over the newly opened rift in space, which later turned out to be a portal. Its presence was justified when an alien attack burst from the rift. Unfortunately the Vendetta was pulled through, taking all of its crew, including Natalé Acorn, with it. The ship then travelled throughout the Multiverse, though never being able to chose their own destinations, until they reached the Sirina Galaxy where they were given strange Juncturist technology by a group known as The Order of Pneumata. The wounded captain's life was saved but she was eternally infused to the ship itself. This also allowed Kelly to select the Multiverse jump. She consulted Natalé who wanted to see her long lost friend Quilan Hyperon again after she went through the rift before the Vendetta. They arrived right in the middle of a battle with an organisation named The Imperium and was used as the flagship for the Rebellion and Admiral Quilan Hyperon.

Capability

Size

The ship is a massive 15 kilometres (9.32 miles) long, seeming more like a space station than a spacecraft. The ship is one of the largest the VSE ever built and was designed to take on several smaller ships alone. Due to its size it has several command stations throughout the ship, each subordinate to one central hub where the captain takes command. Yet each is capable of acting independently on many issues, including weapons fire. There are approximately 350 decks.

Armament

Pulse Cannons

The ship uses typical VSE technology for its weaponry. The 500 pulse cannons mounted across the ship fire quick three-shot bursts of highly charged energy, with a one-second cool-down between bursts. These cannons are automated and hit with incredible precision. Though they are capable of melting any unprotected ship, the pulse cannons can be absorbed by most shield technology; having to gradually weaken enemy shields from a sustained barrage. They are mostly useful for point defence against fighter craft.

Turbo-Pulse Cannons

The 550 turbo-pulse cannons fire the same energy as their smaller pulse cannon brethren, but in a much more powerful and concentrated shot. The rate of fire is incredibly fast, firing over one-hundred shots in such rapid succession that they appear as one long beam of energy. These are usually much broader shots and the speed of the shot means it packs a much greater punch. These are the main cannons for attacking enemy capital ships. Again they are subject to shield strength of the enemy, however they will take down the enemy in half the time it would take with mere pulse cannons.

Proton Torpedo Cannons

There are also 20 proton torpedo cannons on the craft. These cannons fire the physical projectiles that can be devastating to any enemy unprepared for them. These torpedoes are normally capable of passing straight through enemy shields and crashing into the hull of an enemy ship, resulting in an immense explosion. However these proton torpedoes are rather slow and can be detonated before impact. Their blast radius, however, is 1.5 mile meaning last-ditch explosions will often still strike their mark, though with a weaker impact. It also means that the Vendetta must be at considerable range to fire these torpedoes. They are meant as a "final blow" to enemy ships, though they can also act as a diversion, forcing the enemy to react to the incoming torpedo at the expense of attention spent on the Vendetta itself.

Heat Ray

There is only one heat ray attached to the Vendetta for several reasons. First is its sheer size, taking up a huge portion of the ship's exterior, as well as the crewed areas of it on the interior. It is also incredibly dangerous should it ever overheat, resulting in the rapid melting of the Vendetta's own hull. It also takes vast amount of energy to power, which would then take several months to recharge. This is the 'ultimate' weapon on the ship. Capable of passing through almost any form of energy shielding, the heat ray is an invisible ray through space that will only appear visually when it hits a target. Anything passing through this invisible ray would catch fire. Whilst the ray doesn't do a massive amount of damage in one strike, it is capable of slowly melting straight through the enemy hull. The effects of a hole being bore straight through a ship can be catastrophic, yet it is far more subtle an attack than explosions would be. Often this ray is detected too late by its victims, who will only notice the attack when computer systems announce the internal increase in temperature.

Hangar Space

The ships is capable of holding 1200 fighters, either a mixture of standard fighters or bombers. Throughout the Vendetta's travels across the Multiverse, the ship has picked up a vast assortment of fighters, though the current number is well below the 1200 limit. The ship is capable of also carrying up to 20 corvettes on top of the 1200 number with a bay devoted to these larger ships. However there are currently none onboard.

Shields

The shields of the ship come in twos. The inner shield is a non-physical, entirely invisible, shield that hugs the contours of the ship, hovering just 13 feet from the surface of the ship. This shield contains the air of the ship, allowing repairs to be made on the outside without real danger of suffocation (yet safety measures still enforce space suits as a precaution). They also keep the air in on the hangar deck and the corvette bay, allowing pilots and deck hands to work and operate with the shield doors open for fighters to move in and out. Although not part of the design, this inner shield inadvertently acts as a membrane against tractor beams causing them to 'slip off' the ship and anything within, such as the hangar. The second shield is a combat shield capable of protecting the ship against most physical projectiles and absorbing almost all variations of energy weapons. A long bombardment is the only way to eventually bring down the ship's shields. Then the bombardment needs to tear the physical shielding apart. This hull plating can be taken down much more easily than the energy shield but would still provide the Vendetta enough time to jump out of the system and escape any more serious harm.

Travel

Engines

The standard 'sub-light' engines, which are engines for under faster-than-light travel, are mounted across the ship, allowing it to tip, swerve and reverse in space, however its main engines are located, as with tradition, upon the rear of the craft. With such engines it would take the ship little over a year to cross 0.00085 light years (the distance of Earth to Pluto). This is, in fact, incredibly faster for sub-light travel and would use up far more fuel than the ship's stores have. This would also be the engines at maximum capacity and they would likely break down, if not require constant mechanical attention.

Jump Drive

The Jump Drive, or faster-than-light drive, is a standard FTL system that propels the ship through space at a speed exceeding light. This is not too much faster than light, running approximately one hour ahead of light-speed. To cross the 0.00085 light years (the distance of Earth to Pluto) it would take the Vendetta approximately 3 hours. This is the common mode of travel for the Vendetta and the FTL system works smoothly with little chance of danger.

Extra Jump Drive

The 'Extra Jump Drive' is actually the ship's ability to jump from one universe to the next. This drive needs to spin-up, taking over an hour to charge, before it can be activated. Incredibly dangerous, the system tears open a 'hole in space-time' through which the Vendetta, and any nearby objects, are dragged. Formerly the new location for the ship had been entirely random, however the Captain has been fused with the ship, allowing her to select where to move to in the Multiverse. The Vendetta will experience multiple system failures after each jump, requiring some time to repair the damage and restore order. Sometimes, however, the Captain may lose control of the ship resulting in a 'hiccup'. This hiccup spells an instant and accidental Multiverse Jump.

Additional Equipment

Sensors

Sensors come in five bundles across all of the ship, meaning all would have to be damaged to leave the Vendetta blind. However each bundle does add to the range of the sensors and the information level attained. The sensors, working at maximum capacity, can scan an entire solar system (of comparable size to our own system). They are capable of detecting astronomical bodies, discerning the composition of those bodies and, if the object is a familiar one, identifying the object. The sensors can also be 'pinged' by friendly sensors to relay the information, meaning a ship in a nearby solar system can can another solar system if the Vendetta is present.

Fused Captain

To save her life, Captain Kelly Anderlight had herself fused with the Vendetta. This fusing means she has complete control over every system of the ship, from the coffee machines to the Jump Drives and weapons. She is still inexperienced with the ship and will often make mistakes, however she is now considered a permanent part of the ship, making the Vendetta a living ship. The Captain is fused to the ship physically, her body sustained in a water tank and supplied with nutrients. Due to the unusual composition of the water, the body remains healthy, invigorated and doesn't even prune from excess fluid. It is now unknown what would happen to the ship should the Captain be destroyed, though it is theorised that the ship would either shut down entirely, or the Multiverse Jump Drive would activate in the centre of the ship, causing it to tear apart.

History

Construction

Created by the Vestial Space Egalitary, the ship known as the Vendetta was of a ship class one higher than battleship; a titan ship. These titans were some of the largest ships ever created by the VSE, and yet they were not the largest. That title was earned by the Omega, a ship that dominated a class of its own. The Vendetta was still, however, one of the largest titans made. It's size, however, was justified by the amount of weaponry attached to the war machine, in particular the Heat Ray.

The VSE

War with NUO

There was much dissent on many worlds under the VSE as they believed that the organisation had taken control without the lawful right to do so. Originally the VSE had been the space-faring company that colonised and terraformed worlds, however their presence was maintained on all of those worlds and they were relied upon for a great deal, including goods and equipment. Soon the VSE representatives on these worlds was acting as governor rather than a sales representative and even Terra fell under the VSE banner. Whilst peace lasted under this system for many, many decades, unrest eventually led to the realisation that no one elected the VSE to govern. The New Universal Order, or NUO, rose from this, mostly gathering support from the exterior worlds. The planet Zedoss became the focal point for this rebellion and was seized by the NUO. Quickly many other planets turned to the NUO cause and open warfare began.

The Vendetta was a ship built in response to the war, specifically designed to wreak havoc amongst the enemy. However one mission saw the ship in serious jeopardy, lured out by a falsified distress call. The attack saw much of the crew killed, the ship damaged and nearly destroyed. Only a last minute rescue saw the ship and remaining crew safely back to VSE territory. With most of the ship's hierarchy killed, the young Kelly Anderlight took command during the rescue operation. Natalé Acorn was also on-board, having found herself propelled through the ranks from lowly mechanic to chief engineer of the whole ship.

Captaincy

When the ship was in fixed-dock for heavy repairs the question of captaincy arose. Initially Anderlight had no real intentions to take the captain's seat until others began to argue she was the lawful captain by rights of the engagement. The role was hotly contested, many higher officials of the VSE wishing to place a new, more experienced, captain in charge of the powerful Vendetta. Anderlight was eventually offered a compensation captaincy, the VSES Oberon. However when the ship didn't return from its last mission, Anderlight was back on track fir the Vendetta, which she eventually won the rights to by a very small margin.

The Rift

However the ship would never again be given a real role in the war. The bureaucratic officials that resented Anderlight's political victory ensured that the Vendetta was only ever given guard duty on secure or unimportant worlds. Until the Rift opened. A freak event occurred within VSE space, a strange tear in the fabric of space and time. The pilot Ace Lander of Sabre Squadron had been sent to investigate but was sucked in by the ominous Rift. Several other pilots of Sabre Squadron soon followed him through, including Quilan Hyperon and Louise Skydor, close friends of Natalé Acorn's. When none of them returned defences were set up and a cordon around the Rift. Scientists were constantly at work around the Rift, investigating what it was and why it had appeared. The Vendetta was eventually given the task of guarding the Rift as the VSE couldn't spare more important ships from the front lines against the NUO.

Time passed and little happened. The scientists came to believe that the Rift was a kind of portal that linked to a great Multiverse, but they could only speculate until one of Sabre Squadron returned. Proof came, however, in a different guise. Ships burst through the Rift with clear intent and experience. They were small in number but still managed to take the VSE defences by complete surprise, including Anderlight and her ship. By the end of the sudden conflict only a handful of VSE ships remained and the Vendetta was noyt one of them. It had wound up being herded by several enemy cruisers, winding up too close to the Rift. Although the Vendetta managed to destroy those enemy ships around it, the Rift had caught the huge ship and was pulling it in. Attempts to pull against the Rift met with serious damage to the ship, nearly breaking it apart, until it was eventually sucked in.

Across the Multiverse

The Realm of Albion

The Vendetta tore from the Rift into a new universe. Sabre Squadron had appeared within the strange world of The Napping Cat's Dream but Anderlight found herself in a much more stable and unaware environment. As the ship came through the portal, discharges from the event spread across the planet below striking areas of the green, verdant land and transporting animals, plants and even people through the Multiverse in all directions. Anderlight only learnt later than one of those her arrival caused to disappear was Queen Jennifer XIV and her two daughters Princesses Sarah and Samantha. The land below them was known as The Realm of Albion, a flat-world whose laws of physics were very different than those Anderlight and her crew were used to. The Vendetta was too large a ship to land and normally wouldn't even enter atmosphere, so an away party had to descend to the surface including Acorn.

The Vendetta spent many months in the skies of Albion, researching and collecting data on the strange new world. The Rift had closed shortly after their arrival, dispensed by the discharge. From the planet only one person seemed to have knowledge of the Multiverse and the predicament that Anderlight and Acorn found themselves in.

Several years earlier another group had arrived on the soil of Albion from another universe. This was a group of students from the Schola Draíochta. They were on a field trip for their History & Mythology class, run by Professor Thoth and Garrick Keigwin, hopping through the Multiverse using the M.I.S.S. Bus. Whilst there two of the students, Jessica Bell and Eshken Dar, stumbled across a blind woman named Mihoko Kurosawa. Mihoko had never known of the Multiverse until that point and yet only came to truly believe it when she met Natalé Acorn and her away team. Mihoko's descriptions of the strange students she had met led Anderlight to believe these students were not only from a different universe than Albion but possibly different universes than each other! But this knowledge didn't help with the Rift now gone.

However Mihoko had more information for Anderlight. A man called Mortis was often believed to have originated in another world, though this had always been considered folklore to describe his magickal prowess. But, given the circumstances, it was considered their best bet. Acorn, guided by Mihoko and her Wisp, made their way across the land to the well-guarded and imposing territory belonging to Mortis. After a long fight against guards and then strange beings, the group found Mortis' chamber but no Mortis himself. There they found a portal, clear as day. Unlike the Rift, this one displayed the world beyond, which would change regularly to a new one.

More months passed and the crew of the Vendetta eventually managed to replicate the conditions and magickal matter that made up the portal in Mortis' chamber. They used this to simulate their own, ripping open a huge hole in space-time right above Albion again. Mihoko asked to be taken with them, amazed by the whole ordeal she had been through alongside Acorn. She and Wisp were brought aboard and the Vendetta finally passed through the portal and into a new universe.

Freya

Once again they found themselves in the atmosphere of a planet. Realising that the portals the ship used would always transport them to an area of similar conditions to its former station, Anderlight ordered the ship to rise into space. However as the ship reached the upper limits of the forested planet's atmosphere the ship suddenly stopped. They were caught by some kind of gravity well. Quickly locating the source somewhere on the planet below an away team was established again to investigate. This time Mihoko was taken with them, who was far more familiar with magick than any aboard the Vendetta. Using information during their time trapped by the gravity well, engineers and scientists aboard the ship adjusted their sensors so that they could identify various magickal energies as they were exerted upon the Vendetta.

When they landed Mihoko, using Wisp for sight, quickly identified that the Carboniferous-like planet was populated by a single brand of sentient life; Dryads and their semi-sentient 'homes' the Hamadryad. The hamadryad are 'aware' trees that have a symbiotic connection with their dryad partners. The dryads were naturally amazed by the humans and their spacecraft and explained that their world was known as Freya and that the gravity well was caused by the Megalohamadryads, an ancient kind of hamadryad that had no dryad partner but was still sentient in their own way. They were revered almost as gods by the dryad, these trees were as tall as skyscrapers and life seemed to have even more vigour in the surrounding area of the Megalohamadryads. Unfortunately there was no way to negate the effects of the Megalohamadryad and Anderlight deduced that the trees had an uncanny dispersion across the planet so that it created a web of gravity, keeping everything within the planet's atmosphere. Even the new portal engine wouldn't activate. With deep regret Acorn's team had to plant explosives around the Megalohamadryad closest to the Vendetta and destroy it to free themselves.

The destruction of the Megalohamadryad freed the Vendetta, allowing Anderlight to take them away from the planet's surface and out into space where they used their portal jump once it had recharged, taking several days. The dryad never forgot the Vendetta or its betrayal against the dryad people. They helped a new Megalohamadryad to grow in place of the old but were able to manipulate the magick of one so young, altering the gravity sphere surrounding the planet. It would take centuries, but eventually the gravity well was repaired but with two added properties; the first was that the well would allow organic life to pass through but not metals, and the second was to hide the world from technological or magickal scans, hoping to keep strangers from their world. The dryad were also inspired by the Vendetta itself and through magick and genetics they were able to create their own wooden ships from Megalohamadryads, creating living ships to explore the galaxy with. They colonised the neighbouring planet Freyr. None of those aboard the Vendetta could have guessed that Freya was one of the worlds in the Yggdrasil-387420489-Kappa solar system, where the planet Odin and the Schola Draíochta would eventually be located, many centuries after their presence on Freya.

The Peacekeepers

The Vendetta would proceed to jump through several more universes, each of them being quiet and devoid of life, as far as the ship could scan. There seemed to be no way to direct the jumps, all attempts at a reverse jump failing as they would find themselves in a new universe again. The mechanics of the Multiverse were entirely beyond the scientists and engineers aboard the ship and they seemed destined to wander the Multiverse searching for a way home. However upon their twentieth jump the story of the Vendetta took a strange turn. Systems detected that a second portal had opened, only this one was contained within the ship itself. Plus there were several new entities aboard. Guards were sent but incapacitated, trapped by a strange stasis weapon. The enemy unit, consisting of just ten, moved through the ship taking down large numbers of the Vendetta's crew; but not killing them. Eventually the enemy reached the command hub deep within the ship where Anderlight, Acorn and Mihoko waited to see this skilled enemy.

No sooner had the enemy unit entered the hub than they had the entire crew trapped in stasis, slammed against the floor unable to move. Anderlight, as captain, was taken by the unit and taken through a portal from her ship. She was kept in a prison until questioned by a strange anthropomorphic dog creature. The questions were all about the portal technology aboard the Vendetta and the missions the ship had undertaken. Eventually her interrogator decided to answer some of Anderlight's questions in return. The stranger was Portress and worked for the organisation known as The Peacekeepers. They were dedicated to maintaining order through the Multiverse, tackling beings that would seek to warp or manipulate the Multiverse for corrupt ends. She told Anderlight that the organisation was impossible to truly understand, even for those working for it. As the Multiverse crossed time and space, so too did The Peacekeepers, meaning that Portress was probably only one of several versions of herself working for The Peacekeepers. Fortunately the main hub of The Peacekeepers was suspended in a bizarre dimension in which no time existed, though events still passed in a certain order, and it was linked to all space all at once, meaning the right technology could open up a portal to any point anywhere in the Multiverse. Portress even suggested there could be versions of Anderlight herself working for The Peacekeepers.

Anderlight asked for the technology to return home but was refused. Portress also refused to take the Vendetta there, arguing that the ship had to make its own way back without further Peacekeepers intervention as it would break their own laws. However Portress did offer to expand upon the basic understanding and principles that the scientists aboard the Vendetta had calculated, allowing them to cut recharge time and allow them to only arrive at populated zones in the Multiverse. This was because the ship itself was considered a dangerous target as it continued to break through the Multiverse, so possession of this information was considered justified and permitted.

Anderlight was returned to her ship where her crew waited anxiously, having been informed of the situation. Many held a grudge against The Peacekeepers for their means, but Anderlight was simply happy to have advanced information for their journey. As soon as thing settled on the ship and wounded pride was soothed, the Vendetta moved on.

Pinga and the Neilan

As Portress promised, the Vendetta appeared around a populated planet known as Pinga. The militaristic world was contained within the Mornhino Galaxy and was familiar with many strange alien species that roamed the galaxy. The Human government of Pinga initially mistook the Vendetta for an alien trader, despite the ship's immense size. They opened negotiations, thinking to trade technology or intelligence, only for Anderlight to reveal the truth. After days of consideration the Pinga government decided to continue trade attempts and requested portal technology. Anderlight was sceptical over the idea, thinking portal technology in the hands of anyone and everyone would be dangerous, however the technology Pinga offered was their AI Chip which would lead to incredible levels of intelligence and improve the physical make-up of the chip's user. Anderlight was swayed by the intelligence gain, believing it would aid them in finding Terra and the VSE again. She argued that it was The Peacekeepers job to protect the Multiverse, not hers. The trade was done.

Unfortunately the negotiations had lasted several days and within that time span a fleet of Neilan had gathered in preparation for war against the humans of Pinga. Before the Vendetta had a chance to skip the universe the Neilan fleet jumped into orbit and instantly began to blast away the powerful Pinga ships, not making the distinction between them and the VSE ship. Anderlight ordered the Vendetta crew to return fire. Although the Vendetta and the Pinga fleet made a valiant stand, it would be their last. Powerful bombardment ships arrived to obliterate the planet itself and the Vendetta was seriously crippled. A final barrage against the ship broke a hole in the hull that penetrated deep into the ship, narrowly missing the command hub itself. However the violence caused most of the systems to shut down and shook the very core of the ship, throwing the interior into disarray. Anderlight was wounded by shrapnel that tore through her stomach. Acorn, in a moment of desperation, ordered the portal jump. Whilst the inner shield held the air of the ship in and prevented the expulsion of people into space despite the gaping hole, she didn't know if it would protect against the portal rip...

Sirina Galaxy

The dying ship and captain arrived in the Sirina Galaxy around the planet Ducati, home to the Order of Pneumata. Despite the high-level foresight abilities of several Æon masters, they are never able to predict everything and very rarely when it involved Multiverse travel. The arrival of the Vendetta came as a surprise to all. However, after a brief communication with Natalé Acorn, the Æon chose to help the ailing ship and its crew. Simply glad to be alive after their jump, Acorn agreed to the aid of the Æon and their strange terms; they> was to take two of the Æon initiates to the Vendetta's next populated jump location. With no other demands the strangers began to help with repairs on the ship, seeing it as a useful training exercise for many of their initiates. They tried many medicines to heal Kelly Anderlight but only managed to temporarily prolong her fading life. Eventually they proposed a radical solution that they believed would heal her and help them with their navigation problem. The Æon were privy to some Juncturist technology, an ancient species that was believed to be as old as time itself. They used this technology to infuse Anderlight with the Vendetta itself. She was sustained by the ship and it would be at her very command down to the most finite detail, including the jump systems. She would be able to plot points through the Multiverse with a simple thought. Unfortunately she would be permanently bound to the ship, never able to leave it, essentially making the Vendetta a living ship.

The procedure was done and Anderlight became one with the ship. As per the bargain, Kokoro Lymn and Ffion Heul were welcomed aboard, along with their specialised fighter craft. Knowing they could take the initiates back to Terra, Anderlight asked Acorn were she would most like to go in the whole Multiverse. Acorn replied that she wanted to see her old friend Quilan Hyperon again, remembering how she had gone through the portal several years ago. In the blink of an eye the ship jumped to Hyperon's location.

The Imperium

Quilan Hyperon

The VSES Vendetta appeared around the planet Ducati. Strangely this was a parallel version of Ducati that the Order of Pneumata had been on, only this frozen world was a populated planet under the throes of The Imperium. The Æon were instantly away on their mission and wound up working for The Imperium itself, hoping to gain experience on multiple adventures throughout the Multiverse. However they didn't know this would place them on the opposing side to their new friends aboard the Vendetta. Quilan Hyperon had spent the past few years within the strange world of The Napping Cat's Dream and eventually became a resident of the Dream Space Station, which was under the command of Akita Misato. Ace Lander had become an admiral for the station, commanding the protective fleet. However when the Dream began to collapse, the station had to escape and the fleet with it. Left in this vulnerable state, The Imperium, which had long desired the station, seized the opportunity and attacked. When the battle was over, Quilan Hyperon barely managed to escape by using The Imperium's own Jump Node, whilst Admiral Crius Ares was placed in command of the station. Quilan retreated to Ducati, along with several other survivors, and was ultimately chosen to lead a resistance against The Imperium and free both Ducati and the Dream Space Station. She was declared admiral and when the Vendetta appeared, it was placed under her command. This served the crew of the Vendetta as many were uncomfortable being commanded by a captain that was half-human and half-ship and only Natalé Acorn was left of significant rank. Additional crew came from the planet and the powerful Vendetta became the flagship for the ragtag Rebel fleet. The fleet itself was made up of several Imperium ships that had been defending Ducati and taken over by the Rebels. Most of these were Lightfirean ships commissioned by the Imperium in large quantities.

Engagement

Admiral Quilan Hyperon wasted no time in taking the Vendetta into battle against Ares' poorly defended station. It had been turned over to scientific research but the death of Overlord Skrai had left the entire empire in disarray, giving the Rebels a great advantage over the bewildered Imperium forces. They were quickly overcome and a large army was sent aboard the station to commandeer it. Those board the station made quick progress until halted by the defences leading to the Command Centre and Ares himself. Termitan, a high-ranking politician of the Imperium managed to escape the mayhem aboard the station and fled aboard a small Archer Class Patrol Ship just in time to bid farewell to the incoming Imperium rescue fleet led by the two highest-ranking military officials of the entire Imperium; Samantha Arrow and Dragão Geral de Caos.

Arrow, being the Fleet Admiral, tackled the Rebel fleet, whilst Dragão took off towards the space station itself. He boarded quickly, sending in Cypher and Shadow in as a small infiltration unit and commanding the main army himself. They met with minimal resistance to begin with, sweeping through the corridors. Calibri became the leader of a tactical force that would meet up with the infiltration unit, whilst Berif took command of the main force and headed towards the Command Centre to liberate Crius Ares. Dragão himself decided to play a supporting role, commanding from the rear. With him was Lisosta Xailo, who he sent ahead on a scouting mission.

However Dragão's actions were in contradiction to those of Samantha Arrow. Arrow commanded the Imperium fleet from her ship the LU Liberator, and lost a lot of her own fighters during the skirmish, some of which she carelessly destroyed herself due to her inexperience with fighter combat. The Rebel fleet manoeuvred up and below the Imperium fleet and Arrow recognised it too late, the whole Rebel fleet came up around the Liberator itself. Although she was certain she could hold up for some time against the enemy fleet, Arrow requested negotiations with the Rebel admiral. Hyperon allowed Arrow to come aboard the Vendetta and discuss terms. Arrow, guarded by a Lightfirean named Sasha, came aboard the ship and was sufficiently impressed to offer the station for the Vendetta. Naturally Hyperon had to refuse the offer but countered with portal technology. Arrow suggested that the Lightfirean Union may not stay with the Imperium and so technology for them would be useless. Ultimately Hyperon agreed to simply have the prisoners back, leaving the Imperium with the space station. This agreed to, Arrow would have to convince Dragão to cease in his attack on the Rebels... to be cont.

Main Article: Quilan Hyperon

The young woman named Quilan Hyperon was once a fighter pilot from the planet Earth (Polluted), a world so masked in pollution that its people developed paler skin and hair than their ancestors. Eventually the humans from this Earth expanded into space and built space colonies and stations in space to live upon instead of their dying homeworld. Quilan had been brought up as a pilot from a young age due to her parents both being in the military. She became a fully-fledged pilot at sixteen and joined a unit led by Ace Lander. However when Ace was sucked through a strange portal Quilan, and others from the unit, travelled through to find him. Now stuck in The Napping Cat's Dream, Quilan eventually found her former commander aboard the Dream Space Station commanded by Akita Misato and joined the crew. She retained her rank as pilot, though she now commanded her own squad. However when the Dream collapsed, the station had to travel through the Multiverse to stay safe. During this journey the station was attacked by The Imperium and despite her best efforts, Quilan and the remnants of her squad were driven back by the overwhelming force. Eventually Quilan managed to muster up a large rebel fleet and established secret contact with the prisoners of the station. She was promoted to admiral by the rebel fleet and was one of those commanding the retaliatory attack upon the Dream Space Station.

Author Notes

TheBritt

I created the Vendetta to act as the major 'antagonist' in a set of story lines for The Imperium role-play threads. Although most of the ships from the Vendetta's homeworld would be considered 'powerful' by normal sci-fi standards, the Vendetta itself was deliberately 'uber' so that it would provide the role of the 'end boss' for space battles. It can be considered a character in its own right.
